 The University of Sri Jayewardenepura is one of nine Universities in Sri Lanka. It is located in a suburb, eight miles away from Colombo, in the vicinity of the new capital of Sri Lanka: Sri Jayewardenepura. The Department of Forestry and Environmental Science is concerned with training and research in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management and related subjects. The department conducts BSc degree in Forestry and Environmental Science and MSc degree in Forestry and Environmental Management. The department has organized Forestry and Environment Symposia annually since 1996 in order to provide a forum for the presentation of research papers, concept papers and review papers and to discuss the major issues identified by these papers.
