World Environment Day 2000
Activities on 5 June 2000 at University of Sri Jayewardenepura

The Department of Forestry and Environmental science, in commemoration of the "Environmental day" conducts various activities: competitions, audiovisual shows and theme workshop.

Island wide drama competition among school children and photographic competition, will be conducted with the aim of enhancing awareness on current environmental issues.

DRAMA COMPETITION
(School children only)
·THEME- On any desired environmental issue / scenario.
   e. g - environmental pollution, conservation, natural beauty, etc. ·
TIME- 15 minutes.
MEDIUM- Sinhala/ / English

ROUND (I) OF DRAMA COMPETITION
Please send your scripts in an envelope, addressed to the "Environmental day 2000", Department of Forestry and Environmental science, Faculty of Applied sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenapura., Gangodawila, Nugegoda. ON OR BEFORE 12th May 2000

Your scripts will be scrutinized by a panel of reputed judges, formed out of university lecturers, and the top 10 schools will then be eligible to participate in the round II of drama competition.

ROUND (II) OF DRAMA COMPETITION
In this round the participants will perform in front of judges, and the final top five schools will then enter round (III), the finals.
· DATE- Will be notified later.
· VENUE- Science Faculty Auditorium, University of Sri Jayewardenapura.

ROUND (III) OF DRAMA COMPETITION- FINALS
· DATE- Environmental Day" - 5th June 2000
· VENUE- Science Faculty Auditorium, University of Sri Jayewardenapura.
All decisions made by the judges will be final.

Selected Photographs will be exhibited on the "Earth Day", 5th June 2000, at the Applied science faculty and the top three finalists will be chosen before a reputed panel of judges
All decisions made by the judges will be final.

AWARDS FOR THE FINALISTS OF DRAMA AND PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
· Certificate
· Cash award for school
· All- expense paid eco- tourism package sponsored by the
Department of Forestry and Environmental science.
